Current Thoughts

I like playing shows. I'd like to play more outside of Boston. New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Montreal, Canada, that means you. I'd like Danielle to stop being an adult so that we could do this more easily. For now we are on a tight schedule. Things will happen soon. Can you feel it too?

In other news, we have written two new songs that I am very pleased with. They are both literary references which also makes me happy. I think we will do an entire EP of literary reference songs. I haven't come up with a clever enough title yet or I would share it with you, or maybe I'm just holding out. We are also bringing back Goodbye due to popular (or singular) demand. 

I'm excited. 

Abbey Lounge Show

We played for the first time at the Abbey Lounge on Wednesday. We were on first at 9pm and I was afraid that our friends would not arrive until our set was just ending considering a thirty minute time window is not nearly enough for most people I know (including myself). I was greatly suprised to find that the room was full from the first song. We didn't play many, only 5 to be exact but were well received. Twin falls was a definite highlight. The timing was a bit all over the place but we made it work. 

Most exciting we released our first EP "The Histone Code"! Sales were fantastic and everyone loved us bringing back the LIP BALMS. I'm going to need to order new pins soon. What colors should I make them? Red and black again? Bright neon green and orange? HMM. The possibilities are endless. 

In other HB news, we have almost finished a new song called "The thing I know" and cannot wait to debut it. (Most likely at the February 8th show!! ***) We also wrote a new song today which I will be singing on. Crazy eh? Exciting things for the hot box. 

"The Hot Box is on Fire!!" Is all we keep hearing. We love it. We love our friends. We couldn't be happier.

On the Radio

By the way,

Tufts University has a much larger, more stacked, better equipped (could be lying) and funner (more couches to jump on) radio station than Boston College. 

Playing on the radio was fun. There will be live recordings which sound fantastic. We couldn't be happier with the sound. The between song banter was at an all time high. "I'll tell you later"

The interview was, awkward. Talk a little bit about your band. You have shows. What about that lip balm? But we are awkward so it all works out. 

We would like to play more radio shows. Ideally having enough recordings to choose from we will release a live EP for fun, for free.

Radio Show

Tonight we are doing a radio show on Tufts University Radio station 91.5 FM. The show starts around 10 pm followed by a short interview. I already know they are going to ask what Hot Box means. I am going to politely decline to answer. 

In other news we now have a lovely practice space at the Sound Museum on Demby Rd in Allston. A bit of a step up from the penis-covered walls of the Billerica Space and much easier to get to. Plus we share with our good friend in Sanguine Drone and Bill and George in Amoroso are just down the hall (until the end of the month at least). Expect impromptu live sessions to happen in the near future.
